STAGE STARS' PLIGHT
LONDON, Nov. 10. Fay Compton, the actress, was ordered by the Westminster County Court to pay a debt of £9 7s by instalments. She said later that the war had put most stage stars out of work, and some who were touring the provinces for £4 a week and a share in the profits, thought themselves lucky.
