BERLIN CASUALTIES

OVER 2800 IN NIGHT ESTIMATES IN ROME (Reed. Oct. 23, noon.) LONDON, Oct. 22. According to the Daily Mail the Rome radio estimated that the Berlin air raid casualties on the night of October 20-21 amounted to 2871, which is considerably over double the highest number suffered in a night raid on London. A message from the Stockholm Aftonbladet’s Berlin correspondent described a night of unprecedented terror as a result of the Royal Air Force raid. He added that a district in which the majority of the inhabitants are doctors, lawyers and civil servants became an inferno. As usual the Royal Air Force pilots showed great courage in the face of heavy anti-air-craft fire.
