PATRIOTIC SONG

Praise for a patriotic Maori song for singing by the girls of a marac at Maori farewells to soldiers and in welcomes and other ceremonials was expressed by the Minister of Internal Affairs, the Hon. W. E. Parry, upon his return to Auckland from a visit to the Far North. He said the song was given in English and Maori by 25 or 30 girls at a welcome tendered to him at the Pukepoto settlement, Kaitaia So impressive was the song and the appeal of its words that the Europeans present asked for it to be sung several times.
