ANNUAL ROAD RACE
MARIST HIGH SCHOOL GARDNER CUP TO SHONE The fourth annual road race of the Marist Brothers’ High School was held yesterday afternoon under ideal conditions. The race was conducted in three divisions, senior, intermediate and junior. P. Shone gained the fastest time in the senior division, thus winning the Gardner Cup. ■ The event was part of the school’s inter-house competition, and in the following results the houses are named in parentheses:— Seniors. —P. Shone (Xavier), 1; K. Keiha (Xavier), 2; T. Patterson (Pompallier), 3. Fastest time.—P. Shone, winner of Gardner Cup. The following also gained house points: L. Thompson (Pompallier), R. Cahill (Pompallier), P. Carlin (Pompallier), M. Donovan (Xavier), and R. Hoggins (Redwood). ~ Intermediate.—R. O'Kane (Pompallier), 1; B. Neill (Redwood), 2; R. Carlin (Xavier), 3. The following gained house points: P. Griffin (Redwood), T. Hogan (Xavier), W. Raggett (Redwood), F. O’Gorman (Redwood), H. McCoach (Xavier), A. Carr (Xavier), A. Sturrock (Xavier), C. Scanlan (Xavier), and L. Neill (Xavier). .Juniors. —P. Turnwald (Redwood), 1; L. Sutton (Xavier), 2; R. Moloney (Redwood), 3. The following gained house points: T. Wilson (Redwood), B. Moss (Pompallier), J, Pear (Pompallier), M. Dunphy (Xavier), S. Hooper (Pompallier), B. Dunphy (Pompallier), R. Zame (Redwood), B. Patterson (Pompallier), IC. Murphy (Xavier), and P. Nicholls (Pompallier). The total house points for the road race were: —Xavier House, 79 points; Pompallier House, 73; Redwood House, 72.
