BEAU VITE LOOKS WELL AJAX WORKS FREELY GLADYNEV IN FORM (Elfic. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (Reed. Oct. 23, 9 a.m.) MELBOURNE, Oct. 22. Conditions were ideal for galloping at Caulfield on the grass. Tidal Wave and Remarc finished together over a mile in 1.42, the first four furlongs taking 49sec. Beau Vite, who looks a picture, accounted for six furlongs in 1.16.1, the first four taking 50!sec. Gladynev did a steady six furlongs in 1.22. He 'has suffered no harm from his Caulfield Cup race.
Pandect, moving freely, covered z mile in 1.43.1, the first six furlongs taking 1.18.
Ajax showed his usual free style in a mile gallop in 1.43. The first four furlongs took 501 sec., and six furlongs 1.153.
Tranquil Star, who is doing well in his preparation for the Oaks, ran nine furlongs in 2.5 High Caste cantered and looks well. At Epsom, on the grass, .with the flags 6ft. out, Rivette was not extended over a mile run in 1.50. Warbird and Velocity finished together over a mile run in 1.44;;. The Adjutant, who .is improving daily, accounted for a mile in 1.41:j. Pure Gold went five furlongs in 1.5.
The Adelaide two-year-old, Hero, impressed in his first gallop, running half a mile in 50Jsec. At Mentone, Saki was impressive over six furlongs run in 1.19:,', the last three furlongs taking 38sec.
On the course proper at Flemington, Gilltown moved nicely in a mile gallop covered in 1.44 J.
Telasur beat Chaldean over four furlongs in 51sec. On the inside grass, where the going was fast. Fearnought went four furlongs in 49sec. Auric’s Star ran an easy four furlongs in 50isec.
Lucrative defeated Pantler over mile run in 1.43 at Mentone to-day. The colt is very fit and is unlikely to start in the Cox Plate, as his trainer considers that he does not need another race before the Derby. Bcaulivre worked at Moonee Valley to-day, to accustom himself to the track. He concluded pace work with two furlongs in 26sec. Dashing Cavalier and Nightbeam finished together over six furlongs run in 1.17 J.
