SPANISH EXECUTION
NOTEP REPUBLICAN SENOR LUIS COMPANYS (Elec. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (Reed. Oct. 21, 1.40 p.m.) MADRID, Oct. 20. The noted Spanish Republican, Senor Luis Companys, was courtmartialled and executed at Barcelona. He fled to France before General Franco’s capture of Barcelona in 1939. He was prominent for 25 years in the
Republican and Catalan independence novements. He was frequently imarisoned. He was elected as Gover-aor-General of the Independent Catalan Government in 1936.
