FAREWELL PARTY (I lurald Uorrcspoiulßiit.) Mr. R. Russell, who leaves shortly for England to join the Fleet Air Arm, was tendered a farewell evening by Mrs. Sharp and Miss Margaret Holmes. Mr. Pape, on behalf of those present, presented the guest of honour with a wallet. Winners of competitions were:—Paper race.—Messrs. A. Callaghan and P. Openshaw. Musical Competition.—Mr. R. Russell. Notable Characters, —Mr. R. Hayes. A delicious savoury supper was served. Those present included Mesdames A. Sharp, F. Murphy, and Holmes; Misses Marjory Thornton, Colleen Laing, Joyce McNamara, Peg Fraser. R. Smith, J. Fuller, and Eva DeMontalk; Messrs. E. Heaton, R. Russell, D. Tuck. J. Openshaw, R. and B. Smith, R. Hayes, lan Shaw, M. O'Connell, A. Callaghan, Keith Smith, R. Pape and the Rev. Mr. Oulds. Miss Yula MacDonald has returned ■from a holiday in Wellington and Palmerston North.—Mr. D. Day, who is a patient in the Cook Hospital, Gisborne, is showing an improvement.— Mr. and Mrs. A. Cranwick have received advice that their son, Tom, who is a trainee at the Teachers’ Training College in Wellington, is to report at Trentham for a special training course for N.C.O’s.
