Despite the increased German use of fighters as light bombers with the object of reducing the heavy losses they have been suffering in attacks on Britain, German aircraft, the destruction of which in battles over Britain during the week ending at midnight on Saturday has been confirmed, suffered substantially higher losses than the British, while the ratio of pilots and crew losses have been estimated at least eight to one in favour of the British fdrees. Sixty-six German machines were definitely brought down during this period. The Royal Air Force lost 43 aircraft, but the pilots of 26 of these were saved.
