Mr. J. G. Barclay, M.P., who has been critically ill in Auckland, has returned to Whangarei to convalesce. Major R. F. H. P. Stuart-French, 11th Hussars, who has been military secretary to the Governor-General, Viscount Galway, since March, has relinquished his appointment because of ill health. Mr. J. P. Millar, who for the past eight years has been postmaster in Nuhaka, has received advice of his aopointment as postmaster in Te Karaka, a post which'% being vacated by Mr. T. L. Earnshaw. Nuhaka residents have heard of his impending transfer with regret, but have extended their congratulations to Mr. Millar on his promotion.—Special. The Rev. David Calder, Dominion secretary for the British and Foreign Bible Society is visiting Gisborne for the annual meeting of the local auxiliary, to be held this evening. The visitor occupied the pulpits at both St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church and Holy Trinity Church yesterday, when he delivered appropriate messages on the work of the society. Mr. Calder leaves to-morrow on his return to Wellington.
