Burma and the War
Public opinion in Burma among all races, Burmese and Indian alike, was well united in the country's war effort, said Sir Ernest Roberts, Ch,ief Justice of Burma, at present in Wellington on furlough. Rangoon was a cosmopolij tan city with a population of 400,000, lof whom nearly half were Indians, and which included 40,000 Chinese and a great number of Europeans. The j Burmese constituted only about half ■ the inhabitants. To find a united war ■ effort among a group of peoples of | that kind was a good sign,.
