FIGHTER PLANE FUND

£SOIO FROM NORTHLAND (Per Press Association.) WHANGAREI, this day. The Northern Advocate to-day forwarded to the Minister of Finance, the Hon. W. Nash, a cheque for £SOIO 10s Bd, which had been subscribed by the people of seven northern counties in response to the fighter plane fund appeal opened by the paper. With the exception of several donations of £SO, the subscriptions were almost entirely in small amounts, the contributors ranging from old age pensioners to young children who gave voluntarily. The Minister has been asked to communicate to Lord Beaverbrook. Minister of Aircraft Production in Britain, the desire of the contributors that the fighter should bear the name “Northland.”
