' The carved meeting house in Tokomaru Bay was crowded on Friday evening, when the Maori women of the carnival committee held a successful hard-up dance to raise funds for the Coast candidate, Miss M. Williams, in the queen carnival campaign. Wi Pahau’s orchestra was in attendance and the ladies responsible- served a tasty supper. Mr. and Mrs. C. Squire are spending their annual holiday in Auckland.— Mr. and Mrs. J. Watts, Gisborne, were week-end guests of Mrs. Watt’s mother Mrs. M. Corbett, Hautnnoa. —Mrs. Hampton, Christchurch, is the guest of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. J. Ranslev.
