ARMAMENT INDUSTRY

UNITED STATES EXPANSION The rapid expansion of the armament industry in the United States was commented upon by Mr, G. Morton, of San Francisco, who arrived at Auckland by the California Clipper. An official of the Chrysler Motor Corporation, Mr. Morton is an Aucklander by birth, but has not visited New Zealand since he left for the United States 17 years ago. “Production is increasing all the time,” Mr. Morton said, in referring to armament manufacture. All Companies were expanding their plants, which were capable of further output. Mr. Morton said the large motor corporations were playing a notable part in the armament programme. Each was specialising in the production of certain needs, from bombs to ambulances, and there had already been a large output.
