FREE FRENCH FORCES GOLONY OF BELGIUM EQUATORIAL AFRICA GOVERNORS’ SPEECHES (Elcc. T«l. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (British Official Wireless.) Reed. 2.10 p.m. RUGBY. Oct. 11. A communique issued by the headquarters of the Free French Forces describing the official visit paid by the Governor of French Equatorial Africa, General de I’Aminat, to M. Ryckmans, the Governor-General of the Belgian Congo, says that before leaving Leopoldville yesterday General de l’Aminat was given an enthusiastic farewell by a huge crowd of Europeans and natives. He was seen off by M. Ryckmans on a platform decorated with Belgian and French flags. He inspected the guard of honour and the Belgian and French national anthems were played. In the course of an earlier demonstration the governors of the two allied colonies exchanged speeches in which they reaffirmed their faith in the Allied cause. General de l’Aminat emphasised the symbolic significance of the demonstration at Leopoldville as it meant a resumption of relations which official France broke off under the German dictate, despite the secular friendship between the people of the two countries.
