Waimata Fatality

An inquest into the death of Mrs. Margaret Louisa Whitson Rutherford at Waimata yesterday was held by the district coroner, Mr. E. L. Walton, S.M., this afternoon, when evidence was given by Dr. J. W. Williams, Mr. Henry J. Rutherford, husband of the deceased, and Constable Heaslip. The evidence indicated that Mrs. Rutherford had suffered a broken neck as the result of a blow from a falling sycamore bough, which had been hanging •from a tree and partly supported ’by a smaller branch, the severing of which by Mrs. Rutherford had released the weight of the bough. A verdict in accordance with the medical evidence, that Mrs. Rutherford’s neck was broken by the blow, was recorded by the coroner.
