KEEN MANHUNT
ESCAPED PRISONERS POLICE COMBED DISTRICT POLICE NET SPREAD WIDE WARDER'S GRAVE STATE (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, this day. One of the keenest man-hunts ever made in the Auckland district has not so far resulted in the recapture of the four prisoners. Randall Reginald David Smith, aged 27, David Fraster Watson, aged 21. John Henry Silva, aged 25, and Bryan James Ohehir. aged 23. who. escaped from, gaol last evening. Throughout the night 50 detectives and constables combed the district, and early this morning other members of the force took up the search. Every available detective and constable is being pressed into service. The principal roads and bridges are being watched and all motor cars stopped for examination. The condition of the injured warder Joseph Graydon Crawford is reportedv by the hospital to be extremely grave. The prison officials state that the escaping prisoners opened several iron grilles with the keys which they had forcibly taken from the injured warders.
