DIVISION OF INDIA

MOSLEM SUGGESTION SEPARATING RELIGIONS (Reed. Sept. 5, 9 'a.m.) LONDON, Sept. 4. The correspondent of the Associated Press of Great Britain at Bombay says that the Moslem leader, Mr. Jinnah, in an interview, stated: “Moslems will unanimously sacrifice everything to the prosecution of the war if Britain immediately promises India’s 90,000,d00 Moslems that she will support the division of India into two States — Moslem and Hindu —after the war. “The majority of the Moslems live in the north-western and eastern zones. Let us have these zones. The Hindus can have the remainder. Thus we could be good neighbours, each governing according to this practical solution. Even if Britain is not inclined to support a partition scheme now, she could win Moslem support by negotiating with the Moslem League as partners and not as master to servant.”
