GISBORNE’S DRAFT 136 MEN CALLED FOR DEPARTURE NEXT WEEK STRONG INFANTRY PARTY The quota asked from the GisborneEast Coast sub-area for the Fourth Reinforcements of- the New Zealand Expeditionary Force, which goes into camp next week, comprises 136 men for a number of different units. Most of the men are to go to Trentham, but there are smaller groups for Papakura and Burnham respectively. A notable feature is tlxat the list contains only two names of married men, the quota being practically filled by single men from the lists of volunteers awaiting mobilisation. Tlxe 15 men for Divisional Cavalry and Infantry Rifles to train at Burnham camp, Christchurch, will leave Gisborne at 2 a.m. on Wednesday. September 11, connecting with the early railcar at Waix-oa and tlxe southbound express at Napier. They will cross to Lyttelton from Wellington the same evening, and complete their journey to Burnham the following day. The Papakura draft of 17'men, for artillery, railway construction and non-divisionai engineers, will leave Gisborne on the same day, but at 9 a.m. They will connect with the north-bound express at Palmerston North in the evening, and will arrive at Papakura overnight. The Trentham detachment: will leave at 8 a.m. on Thursday, September 12.
