CONCERN VOICED

MEMBERS' FEES WAIROA A. & P. SOCIETY FALSE FINANCIAL POSITION COMMITTEES ELECTED (Special to the Herald.) WAIROA. this rhiy. Concern at the false financial position the society was placed in as a result of a number of members' subscriptions not being paid was expressed at the annual meeting of the Wairoa County Agricultural and Pastoral Society yesterday.

Referring to the report and statement of accounts, the president. Mr. A. T. Carroll, stated that the amount of outstanding subscriptions was causing the finance committee considerable worry. The committee had tried all manner of ways to improve the position, only to be sadly disappointed with the’ response. The present state of affairs placed the society in a false financial position. If all the outstanding subscriptions wore paid the society would be in a very sound position.

Dealing with the Show, the president said that the support for the centennial Show was very substantial indeed. He appealed to those interested in the society to increase the membership in order to guarantee the financial position.

In the president's motion that the report and balance sheet be adopted. Mr. H. Crichton, the treasurer. stated that since 1937 sports meetings had been held by the society and the money earmarked for per-* manent improvements to the showgrounds. The total improvements carried out so far amounted to £717. £453 being contributed as a result of the sports meetings and the remainder coming out of revenue. “It seems a shocking position when 15 to 20 per cent of the members are not paying." said Mr. E. L. Thompson. “It is showing a false position every year.” Election Of Officers The election of officers resulted: — President. Mr. A. T. Carroll; vicepresident. Mr. H. Bayly; treasurer, Mr. H.
