CARD TOURNAMENT (IliiraUl Correspondent.) Ten tables were needed to accommodate the players at the weekly progressive five-hundred tournament held on Thursday evening in the Y.M.C.A. Messrs. Mulligan and O'Donnell supervised the games, while supper was served by the ladies’ committee. The best cards were handed in by Mrs. Laurence, jun., and Mr. King respectively, while two other prizes went to Mrs. Hopkinson and Mr. Ching. Cakes were won by Mrs. La Hood and Mr. Mulligan. Among those present were Mesdames Smith, Muir, Poole, La Hood, Ilewson, Rominger, Hopkinson, Ehau, Brown, Fouhy, Feasev, Mulligan, Pohatu, Robbins, Clanachan, Laurence, and Laurence, jun.; Misses M. Jackson, E. Ehau. C. Kara, and J. French..
Mr. R. Francis, of Burnham camp, accompanied by Mrs. Francis, who have been visiting relatives in Christchurch, are expected home on Saturday.—Messrs. O’Donnell. Borst and Fcnsey are home on leave from Trcntham camp.—Mr. and Mrs. Laurence and Mr. and Mrs. Laurence, jun., have taken up residence at Bartletts.
