Last Night’s Forecast General situation.—The centre o£ the cyclonic disturbance was located hear East Cape this' afternoon and is moving slowly south-eastwards, Pressure is low also in the south Tasman Sea. Forecast.—Winds from between south-east and south-west prevailing, strong in some exposed positions in the North Island, but mainly light to fresh in force. Seas in New Zealand waters rather rough to rough north of Kaikoura and Farewell Spit, elsewhere slight or moderate. In the eastern Tasman Sea southerly to southwesterly winds, moderate to strong in the northern portions with rough seas, light but freshening in the southern portion, with slight to moderate seas. Weather cloudy and unsettled, v. itli further rain m most districts, but especially in eastern areas between East Cape and Banks Peninsula, where some heavy falls are likely. Temperatures moderate in the north, and cold in the south. To-day’s North Island Report Overcast and cloudy conditions, with rain and drizzle at Auckland, Gisborne and Wellington, were reported in the North Island this morning, when a southerly to south-westerly-wind ranging from slight to strong prevailed. The barometer showed a slight rising tendency. Temperatures at 9 a.m. were: Tauranga and East Cape, 5(1 degrees; Gisborne, 54; Auckland, 53; Napier, 52; Wellington, 45. Seas were rough at East Cape and Wellington and elsewhere moderate. Midday Forecast General situation: The recent cyclonic disturbance is moving away eastward ancl pressure is rising rapidly with the advance of an anticyclone from the west. Forecast: Strong, but gradually decreasing,, southerly winds. Weather, dull, with occasional rain, but slowlyimproving. Temperatures, cold. Seas, rough.
