FLAX DE-SEEDING PLANT BLENHEIM INVENTION SUPERIOR TO EUROPEAN ; (Per Press Association.) j BLENHEIM, this day. Close investigations and trials have proved: the' linen flax de-seeding machine, patented by Mr. C. J. Lucas', a' Blenheim .farmer, to be 100 per cent satisfactory, stated Mr. R. B. Tennent, director of primary production. . Actually it is.a superior, machine to .thcise which have been in use in Europe; He said the New Zealand Government intended to have approximately 50 machines manufactured immediately to cater for descending operations where the crop is grown throughout the Dominion. lilr. Tennent paid a tribute to the pioneering work Mr. Lucas and Mr. L. C. j Chay tor had done in connection with the linen flax industry.
Following an address by Mr. Teiment, offers-were made by. farmers to Igrow a further 100 acres of flax, bringing 800 acres in sight out of the of 1000 acres allocated to Marlborough. . . , ; I .
