GENEROUS DONATIONS

WAR-PURPOSES LOANS TOTAL REACHES £2,081,574 (Per Pross Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. Donations and interest-free loans to the Government for war purposes now total £2,081,574, according to an announcement made by the Minister of Finance, rhe Hon. W. Nash, today. Syme and Gonjpany, Hawera, £IOOO for tile duration of the war and six months afterwards; anonymous, £IOOO for the duration of the war and six months afterwards; G. W. W., Christchurch, £IOOO for tfie duration of tl)e war and six months afterwards; Mrs. G. F. Russell, Auckland, £IOOO for the deration of the war and six months afterwards. BRITISH & FRENCH FUNDS (Per Pross Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. Donations totalling £11,500 to the British and French war funds have been made by John Court, Auckland, H. and J. Court, Limited, Hamilton, and J. W. Court, Limited, Whangarei. The Auckland firm has given £SOOO to the British war benevolent fund, £2500 to the Lord Mayor’s Red Cross and St. John Fund, and £2500 to the French Red Cross. The Hamilton firm has given £1250 for the fund for the comfort and sustenance of men and women of all British forces. The Whangarei firm has given £250 to the British war benevolent fund.
