EX-SOLDIERS’ OFFER
AMBULANCE SERVICE AUCKLAND PRECAUTIONS (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, this day. “We all know what shellfire and bombs are and what it is to go to the limit, and we could go to the limit again. I would like to take into the scheme of emergency precautions in this district all you men of the field ambulance so that if there ever should be the occasion, I could call on you for duty,” said Colonel Murray, officer in charge of emergency precautions in Auckland and North Auckland territory. In response to the appeal everyone of the 162 men attending the eleventh annual reunion of the N.Z.E.F. Field Ambulances and Transport attached enthusiastically volunteered to serve if required. The gathering decided to send a message to the French Premier, M. Reynaud expressing profound admiration for the armies of France, ‘ and the hope and conviction that through their courage and that of the peoples of France, the sacred city of Paris and the whole soil of France will soon be cleansed and restored to peace and liberty. Vive La France.”
