EDUCATIONAL MATTERS (Herald Correspondent.) At the monthly meeting of the Te Karaka District High School Committee the headmaster reported that (he Education Board would encourage -he teacning of the Maori language and the committee decided to ascertain whether a suitable teacher could be obtained locally. It was resolved tc nominate Mr. Chas. Mills to represent the northern ward on the Hawke’s Bay Education Board in place of the retiring nember, Mr. Sainsbury, Wairoa. Mr. Mills has been closely associated with educational matters for many years and is familiar with the needs of this section of the rural erea, which previously has not had a direct representative rn .-he board. Those present at the meeting were Messrs. S. Smithers, J. W. Nisbett, T. D. Clark, P. Hardacre, C. Mills, R. D. Dymock, F. G. Bellerby, T. M. Askew and C. G. Atkins.
