Enemy Aliens

Sir, —I wonder arc the powers that be, or our worthy Mayor, aware that in a public works camp some 30 miles from Gisborne a German is employed? This man, supposedly a refugee, is said to have had His and his wife’s and child's passage out, paid for. Yet he and his family are -well dressed and his collage well furnished. No wonder they are always so smiling. The pity of it is that a Britisher was dismissed at the time this German was engaged. Is it not a deplorable fact that Germans, our enemies, are at this time being employed on public works, when instead every German in. New Zealand should be in an internment camp. This war will not be won by singing a few patriotic songs. Action is wanted and rhat urgently. Wake up New Zealand— “WORKER.”
