DECLARATION OF WAR OPPOSED TO ITALY ALIENS ROUNDED UP NEW MUNITIONS PLANTS (Reed. June 11, 11 a.m.) OTTAWA, June 10. The Prime Minister, Mr. W. L. Mackenzie King, in the House of Commons announced that word had been received from London that hostilities against Italy would start at midnight on Monday, London time. , The House of Commons thereupon unanimously voted in favour of Mr. Mackenzie King’s resolution asking His Majesty to declare war against Italy on behalf of Canada. “Know'ing where Italy stands has freed the hands of Britain and France for more vigorous action,” said Mr. Mackenzie King. The police are rounding up Italians throughout the country. The ConsulGeneral and other Italian Government representatives are receiving passports immediately. Canada, Britain and France jointly are constructing munitions plants costing £5,000,000, one to fill shells and the other to produce nitrocellulose.
