PAINTERS’ AWARD

SATURDAY WORK BARRED (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. The Dominion painters’ award which has been issued provides for- a 40hour, five-day week. All work on Saturday, except those engaged on ship repair work, is to be paid for at double time rates. It will be a breach to engage on Saturday work except on ship repairs without a permit from the Labour Department. The minimum rate is 2s'9d an hour.
