MORE HELP NEEDED

RODEO CATERING PLAN SOUPS AND CAKE GIFTS The prospect of a shortage of supplies may have to be faced by the Poverty Bay Women’s Representative Committee to-morrow in connection with the rodeo catering effort, unless the response to an appeal for assistance from the womenfolk of the district shows an improvement this evening and to-morrow morning. At 2.30 p.m. to-day the depot at the Gisborne Garage, Peel street, had received only a portion of the supplies which will be required at the rodeo grounds. During the early afternoon the flow of gifts had improved, and there was a prospect of better results as the day went on, but the committee delegates in charge of the depot was hoping for a big improvement. It was pointed out that many people who intend to help in supplying the luncheon buffet and tea-rooms may intend to deliver their gifts to-morrow morning, with the idea of their being perfectly fresh and therefore more palatable. The committee would be glad to have some indication, however, as, to what shortages will have to ,be made up, and has made full provision for the safe-keeping of cakes and soups sent to the depot to-day or this evening.
