RESISTENCE BREAKING RINGING OF ARMIES ADVANCE BY GERMANS fßecd. May. 30, 3 p.m.) BERLIN, May 29. A German communique says: “The doom of the French armies in Artois is now sealed. Their resistance in the area south of Lille has broken down. The British army which is concentrated in the Dixmude, Armentiers and Bailleul and Bergues areas is facing complete destruction by our concentric attacks. “The German forces marched through Bruges and captured Ostend. They reached Dixmude. “The Allies are still offering desper- - ate resistance on the River Yser and along the Yser Canal, north of Ypres. The German forces reached Lille from the east and west. ‘The German forces broke the fortified French position each of Cassel where the French are fighting on a reversed front. The German news agency says that the Allied armies in Flanders are occupying territory northward of Lille to the coast, only 25 miles wide at the broadest point. Dunkirk is within' range of heavy artillery. Allied forces, mainly French, southward of Lille are encircled in an area of 71 square miles.
