UNIVERSAL BENEFIT
SUPERANNUATION CLAIMS £143,950 GRANTED (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. Claims lodged to date for the universal superannuation benefit of £lO a year under the Social Security Act totalled 35,732, according to an announcement made yesterday by the Minister of Social Security, the Hon, W. E. Parry. Of these, 14,395 claims were granted, the estimated annual value being £143, 950. The estimated annual value of benefits that would be granted in respect of claims already lodged, said the Minister, was £250,000. Arrangements were under way, he said, for the issue of payment authorities enabling the initial quarterly instalments to be received by approved applicants at the end of the nionth, the date of payment for the. first instalment being June 30.
