INSULT TO DUTCH
ANCIENT HALL DEFAMED INVADERS’ GOVERNOR INSTALLATION CEREMONY (British Official Wireless.) Reed. 9 a.m. RUGBY, May 29. The news of the installation of Dr. H. Seyss-Inquart, which took place in the ancient Hall of Knights at The Hague, has aroused bitter indignation in both the Dutch Cabinet in London and amongst the Dutch community generally.
Remembered as the Austrians’ leading Fifth Columnist, Dr. Seyss-Inquart has been appointed as the “supreme civil authority” in the Netherlands and Nazi-occupied Belgium.
The insult of usurpation is felt to be increased by the Nazi choice of the place of perpetration. The Hall of Knights has been the scene of mqny expressions of Netherlands national life and free Parliamentary Government. and stands as the supreme symbol of Holland’s liberties. This ceremonial suppression of Dutch rights and liberties concluded with the parrot cry: “Sieg heil!”
