INDEPENDENT M.P.

WAR COUNCIL OPPOSED Mr. C. A. Wilkinson, M.P. for Egmont, has sent the following telegram to the Prime Minister as an Independent member of Parliament and one who has not taken part in mass demonstration meetings urging action: — “I must say that setting up an unwieldy advisory council whose duties are subordinate to Cabinet will not satisfy the people of the Dominion. Party should be wholly dropped in this great emergency and a truly National Government established. Your present suggestion is futile and inadequate to meet a situation involving the life or death of the Empire. I have sent a copy of this telegram to the Leader of the Opposition and the press.”
