SECRET SESSION
POSSIBLE PROCEDURE WAR EFFORT DEBATE OPPOSITION DEMAND NATIONAL GOVERNMENT (Special to the Herald.) WELLINGTON, this day. A secret session of the New Zealand Parliament so that there can be the freest and fullest discussion or the Dominion's war effort may be hold, according to a statement made to-day in ; n interview with the Prime Minister, the Plon. P. Fraser. Mr. Fraser said that if the house decided on this course the Government would willingly accede to the request and the session would be held at the earliest possible moment. Present indications are that there is little possibility of the National Party agreeing to the Government's War Council proposal, as outlined in the letter from the Prime Minister to the Leader of the Opposition, the Hon. Adam Hamilton.
This letter was discussed at the National Party caucus to-day. According to lobby reports, the Opposition is to press strongly for a National Government and further important conversations are to take place between the Opposition and the Government parties.
