CANTERBURY LAWYER COLONIAL SERVICE (Pen Press Association.) • CHRISTCHURCH, this day. Mr. C. E. Purchase, barrister and solicitor, of Christchurch, has been appointed lo the British colonial legal service in Africa. Mr. Purchase will leave Christchurch soon to take up the position of assistant administrator-general and deputy official receiver in the Protec--1 orate of Uganda. Mr. Purchase, who is a son of Mr. .1. E. Purchase, formerly principal of the Christchurch Training College, was born in 1907 itt Ashburton. He received his school education at the Christchurch Boys' High School and was a student at Canterbury University College. He was admitted as a solicitor in 1929 and as a barrister in 1935 when he graduated LL. B. Mrs. Purchase, formerly Miss Yvonne Lcvvey, is a daughter of Mr. E. C. Levvey, S.M.
