Gift of Farm

The opinion that the proposed Maori hostel in Frankton should be erected in wood was expressed at a meeting of the Waikato Maori Host.e 1 Committee. The committee received advice from the Minister in'Charge of Native Affairs that he preferred that the hostel should toe erected in brick or concrete, and he asked if the committee would agree to this course if the Government found half the cost. It was decided to reply that there would' be difficulty In raising the additional £SOO required locally. Moreover, it was considered that a wooden structure would last as long as a hostel ivould toe required
