Investigations concerning the complaints of two young women in Runtoria that they had been accosted by a Maori who hud tried to grab hold of them resulted in the arrest by the police of Rongonui Taukamo. aged 21. a labourer, who appeared recently before Messrs. \V. H. O. Johnston and T. A. Snell ing. J.P.’s. in the Ruatoria Police Court. The accused pleaded not guilty to three similar charges of common assault, but was convicted and sentenced to two months’ imprisonment on . each of the charges, the sentences to be cumulative. Constable J. W. Birch, prosecuting, said that the accused had a bad record and recently had been released from gaol,
