BRIEF SESSION
SUPREME COURT MAY FINISH IN DAY NO CRIMINAL TRIAL The quarterly session of the Supreme Court in Gisborne opened this morning and it was expected that the business would be disposed of by this afternoon, making this session a direct opposite to the previous one. which iasted for two months and which reached its conclusion only three weeks ago. Mr. Justice Blair presided at I'o-day's sitting, and when addressing the grand jury, of which' Mr. F. R. Ball was appointed foreman, His Honour stated that until that morning there was one bill for bearing, but ihe person' concerned had since pleaded guilty, leaving tlie grand jury without any bills for consideration. That was a matter on which the district could be congratulated. The jury was then discharged. Decrees Nisi Decrees nisi, to be moved absolute in three months, were granted in four undefended divorce cases, as follows: — Raymond Rhodes Harriman (Mr. D. E. Chrisp) v. Isabella Park Harriman on tiie ground of an agreement to separate.—The petitioner stated that he married the respondent in 1931. and when living in Te Puke in 1935 they entered into an agreement to separate. He was now living at Otoko. Mary Grant (Mr. L. T. Burnard) v. James Grant, on the grounds of summary separation.—The petitioner said siio married the respondent in 1919. and an order for separation was made in Wairoa in 1933. .Myrtle Florence Brown (Mr. J. g. Wauchop)" v. Mahanga Brown (Mr. D. E. Chrisp). on the grounds of desertion. —Tiie petitioner, staled that she married the respondent in December. 1920. living at Te Kanaka. Her husband left her in 1933. Frederick Goodail (Mr. K. A. Woodward) v. Rita Jane Rose Goodail. on the grounds of desertion. —The petitioner staled that lie married the respondent in May, 1914, in Gisborne. His wife left him in September, 1934, taking with her £305, an amount he had saved for the purpose of paying the mortgage off the house. Site left the five children.
