MISTAKEN FOR ENEMY
THREE R.A.F. MEN WOUNDED IN ULSTER (Reed. Mav 27, 9 a.m.) BELFAST, May 25. Three members of the Royal Air Force were wounded when a patrol )f special constables, mistaking them for parachutists in the darkness, opened fire with rifles and revolvers near an Ulster aerodrome. The patrol of “B men” which is similar to the parachute defence organisation in England riddled a :ar with bullets when it failed tc ;top in response to a challenge. The oolice surrounded the car and found ho airmen unconscious. They were taken to a hospital and bullets were -amoved from their chests and legs.
