Youth’s Thefts in Wellington

A 16A-year-old boy pleaded guilty to five charges of breaking and entering two shops in a suburb of Wellington and the theft of a variety of articles from sweets to a tent aftd sleeping bag when he appeared this morning before Mr. E. L. Walton. S.M., and Mrs. Ada E. Beer. J.P., in the Children’s Court. He was placed under the supervision of the Child Welfare Department for one year aftd ordered to make restitution of 17s 6d for his share of the proceeds with another youth. An order also was made for the return of a clock and sleeping bag to their rightful owners. Detective T Sergeant R. H. WatersOn said that the youth had been led by the other boy, who had been in trouble previously. The present- defendant had been given a good character by his present employer, who said that he was a splendid worker.
