OIL WELL AT MORERE CASING DOWN TO 2998 FT. In their weekly bulletin covering •(Derations at Morere and at Midhirst, Taranaki, the New Zealand Petroleum Company, Limited, state:— “Morere No. 1 Well. —Casing of 13 Sin. diameter was successfully ! anded and cemented at 2998 ft. Drilling has been suspended pending setting of the cement. “Rigging-lip at the Midhirst location is now 75 per cent complete.” Last week’s bulletin indicated that the depth of the Morere bore at Wai’cokopu on May 15 was 2975 ft., the lower part of the hole being of 12.}in Reaming-out to 17}in. was ing, and it was intended to cement* the 13gin. casing at abouc 3000 ft. This plan has been carried out. with a variation of only 2ft. from the tentative depth fixed in last week's bulletin.
