Last Night’s Forecast General Situation: A complex depression still remains more or less stationary off the East Coast, while the anti-cyclone over southern Australia has decreased in intensity. Forecast: Winds, southerly to westerly predominating, strong in the Auckland Peninsula, otherwise light to moderate but probably freshening tomorrow. Seas: In New Zealand waters, rough about, the Auckland Peninsula, elsewhere slight or moderate, but later rising somewhat, more particularly about Foveaux Strait. Eastern Tasman Sea: Fresh to strong south-west winds and rough sens. Weather: Cold and rather changeable generally, with passing showers in the far north and in the far south, and a few scattered showers in most other districts; some hard-frosts probable tonight. To-day’s North Island Report Light to gentle variable breezes were reported as general this morning throughout the North Island. The barometer had a rising tendency. Temperatures at 9 a.m. were: Auckland and East Capo 53 degrees, Tauranga 51, Wellington 50, Nepier 47, and Opotiki 46. Blue skies were reported at Wellington, and elsewhere cloudy to overcast. Seas were slight to moderate. Midday Forecast General situation: The recent complex depression has moved slowly eastwards, the lowest pressure being near Chatham Islands. An anticyclone covers southern Australia. Forecast: Light to moderate winds chiefly from a westerly quarter. Weather: Mainly fair. Temperatures: Cold with some frosts to-night. Seas: Slight to moderate.
