OIL EXPLORATION

DRILLING AT MORERE SLOWER PROGRESS MADE Slower progress in drilling at Waikokopu, on the Morere dome, is indicated in the latest bulletin of the New Zealand Petroleum Company, Limited, which states:— “Morere No. 1 well has reached a depth of 27531't, with the formation unchanged. “Midhirst location, Taranaki. —Derrick construction is practically complete, and rigging-up is in progress,” The previous bulletin issued by the company on May 1, gave the depth of the Waikokopu bore as, 2520 ft. The gain in the interim is 233 ft.
