HIGHER PETROL PRICE
ACTION IN AUSTRALIA NEW RATES 2/4 AND 2/5 (Reed. May 9, noon.) CANBERRA, May, 9. Petrol prices throughout Australia have been increased by 3d a gallon from to-day. Thus the extra duty imposed by the Federal Government last week will be passed on to the consumers. The new rates will be 2s 4d for ordinary grade and 2s 5d for first grade. Petrol is now 7d a gallon above the pre-war price.
