GERMANS AT NARVIK FIORD REPORTED MINED STAND BY NORWEGIANS ASSISTANCE FROM POLES (Klee. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (Reed, May 9, noon.) LONDON, May 8. The Berlin correspondent of the Associated Press of Great Britain says it is not believed that the German garrison at Narvik has been reinforced since the arrival of the first troops. A Stockholm message says that the Germans are reported to have mined Narvik fiord. Norwegian military officials say that German troops landed by parachute about 80 miles north-east of the main Osterdalen valley, but the Norwegians hold the rugged mountain ranges separating Narvik. A Polish communique issued in Paris says that Poles are fighting in Norway. The German High Command in a communique states that’ German planes struck two British cruisers with bombs off Narvik and bombed Allied positions and ' marching troops. One British plane was shot down east of Narvik.
