STORES IN BRITAIN ■, - LONDON, April 8. TBrf{iSK' granaries are glutted with Australian wheat as the result ol efforts to increase reserve stocks ot grain. The Daily Telegrapn reports that heavy importation of Australian wheat - has overflowed granaries, congested docks, delayed transport, strained storage capacity and increased the danger of insect infestation. Shiploads of the Australian December and January crop are arriving almost daily. Delivery has begun of 1,050,000 tons purchased under the agreement with the Australian Wheat Board.
•; Every delay, and the necessity for using cold stores to relieve pressure bn the new silos, has increased the risk of . weevil infestation which was responsible for annual damage before the war of from £5,000,000 to £10,000,000 to grain and tobacco throughout Britain. - Methods of combating difficulties include increased scientific control ana the. use of poor quality . European wheat for flour or cattle food to make room for high-grade Empire grain.
