Treatment of Tuberculosis

To be used under the Health Department’s scheme for the treatment of tuberculosis patients among the Maoris in North Auckland, the first shipments of hutments is expected to arrive shortly. The medical officer of health for the district. Dr. C. B Gilberd, is making a survey to ascer tain where the first hutments should be erected. These will be set up at the homes of Maoris suffering from the disease, who are now living under the most crowded conditions. Although the more serious cases will be treated in hospitals, the less serious will be accommodated in these hutments erected at their homes. By this means the department hopes to curtail the spread of infection.
