PIG-HUNTERS MISSING
FOUR MEN IN BUSH SEARCH PARTIES OUT KAIMAI RANGES COMBED (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, this day. Three parties combed the heavybush of the Kaimai Ranges all day yesterday in a vain search for four men who have been missing since they left Matamata on a pig-shooting expedition on Sunday morning. The only trace found of the missing men was some apple peelings deep in the bush. Men are still searching and spent last night in the bush. The search is at present under the 1 leadership of Mr. Joseph Smith, an experienced bushman, with a number of Maori guides. Another search party will leave for the ranges today under the leadership of Mr. W. Douglas and the other three parties will be given some relief. It is hoped that the weather conditions will permit the use of an aeroplane from the Rotorua aerodrome in the search. At present there is still mist about and in the bush conditions are wet and cold with the ground very heavy. The Maoris were the only searchers who were able to light a fire.
