NAZI’S EFFORTS WARSHIPS LEAVE BASE UNCONFIRMED REPORT EAST INDIES ACTIVITY GERMAN SHIPS LOADING (Elec. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.l (Reed. March HO, 11 a.m.) LONDON, March 2.0. A radio broadcast from Rome did not confirm a report that German warships are steaming out of Wilhelmshaven to engage the British naval forces which are carrying out contraband control duty in the Skagerrak. The announcement added that German merchantmen in Scandinavian waters had been ordered to seek the shelter of the nearest port It is reported from Batavia that the German steamers Nordmark. Rendsburg and Vogtland are preparing to leave for Vladivostok. Fourteen other German vessels at other Dutch East Indies ports, including the Menado and Macassar, are loading copra, coal, and food which has been paid for in cash Before any of the vessels can attempt to run the Allied blockade. 1 however, it will be necessary for them to pay the' heavy port dues that have accumulated
