EXPANDING PRODUCTION ALLIES CHIEF BUYERS (Reed. March 30, noon) WASHINGTON, March 29. Aircraft engine manufacturers assured the Government that they would speed up engine production to permit the industry to take full advantage of the Allied orders. Officials expect a production rate of 28,000 to 30,000 engines annually within a year. Aeronautical exports for February were below the December and January high levels, but 204 per cent above those of February, 1939, being valued at £5,000,000. The chief purchasers were France, Australia, Britain, Finland and Canada.
